Biography
Charlie Winstanley is Director of Operations for cardiovascular services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, Royal Brompton and Harefield in London, accountable for around 20,000 cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular pathways a year, and a +£300m budget. He is also a Visiting Research Fellow focusing on AI in Healthcare at King’s College London, School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences. His interest is what happens to clinical AI once the model works. Whether it survives contact with a real service, a real queue and a clinician with an hour of admin left in the day. He leads several AI pilots, including AI-assisted specialist advice and ambient documentation, and designed the controlled crossover study behind this abstract. Self-taught in code, he builds and deploys the operational tools himself. He previously led national elective recovery policy at England’s health department.
