Biography
Diego Redondo-Sáenz is a PhD candidate in Nursing at Columbia University School of Nursing, where he began his doctoral training in 2023. Originally trained as a nurse in Costa Rica, he has a clinical background in surgical and emergency care. His research focuses on cardiovascular symptom science, postoperative cognitive outcomes after cardiac surgery, and the application of machine learning to characterize recovery trajectories. His work integrates patient-reported outcomes, biomarker data, and longitudinal modeling to improve risk stratification and clinical decision-making. He is particularly interested in global cardiovascular health and cross-regional research collaboration. His skills portfolio include biomarker acquisition and processing, statistical analysis (R and SAS), database building and maintaining using SQL, and qualitative analysis (NVivo and Atlas.ti). Diego is fluent in Spanish and English, with proficiency in French.
