Professor Joana Sousa

Dietitian, specialist in Community Nutrition and Public Health, MSc and PhD in Public Health in the field of Childhood Obesity. Joana is an Associate Professor of Nutrition at Faculty of Medicine in Lisboa, collaborates in the coordination of the BSc in Nutritional Sciences and is a member of the Scientific Commission for the MSc in Clinical Nutrition. Joana engaged in extensive pedagogical activity, teaching BSc, MSc and PhD in the nutrition, medical and health science fields. Between 2001 and 2012 Joana actively developed clinical activity in paediatric nutrition and afterwards specialized in the field of community nutrition and public health. Joana is a full member of the ESPGHAN wher integrates the SIG of Childhood Obesity. Her research interests include epidemiological assessment of nutritional and food factors and their effect on health outcomes, as well as development, implementation, assessment and translation of food and nutrition education programmes in specific populations.
