Biography
Dr. Olives Nguyen is a T32 postdoctoral cardiovascular research fellow at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI), funded by the NIH. Their research centers on myocardial perfusion and coronary microvascular dysfunction in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and cardiac transplant populations, utilizing myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) as both a clinical and translational imaging modality. Dr. Nguyen leads the prospective stress myocardial perfusion study within the Masri and the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging Research Laboratories, seeking to better understand the impact of hemodynamic factors on myocardial blood flow. Dr. Nguyen’s work also focuses on improving long-term graft survival through use of MCE as a low-radiation, low-contrast tool for early detection of coronary allograft vasculopathy in vulnerable cardiac transplant populations.
