Biography
Dr. Manuel R. Castillo Padrós, MD, PhD, is a Consultant in Supportive and Palliative Care at the Complejo Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), where he has been working since 2004. He is a member of the Regional Committee for Ethics in Clinical Research and the Ethics Commission of the Government of the Canary Islands. He is one of the Coordinators of the Master’s Degree in Palliative Care at UNIR, Board Member of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), the Spanish Society for Palliative Care (SECPAL) and Spanish Delegate to the UEMS Working Group on Palliative Care.
His main areas of expertise include advanced symptom control, complex chronic disease, end-of-life decision-making, and integration of palliative care in non-oncological conditions, particularly cardiovascular and neurological diseases. His research interests focus on prognostic factors, complexity, and models of integrated care.
