Biography
Francesco Longo was born in Lamezia Terme, Southern Italy. He earned a Master’s Degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from University of Trieste. In 2023, he began a research fellowship in General and Molecular Pathology, investigating the pathophysiology of tumor progression linked to asbestos exposure, with the aim of identifying early biomarkers for timely intervention. He developed strong expertise in molecular and cellular techniques, including PCR, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence. In 2025, he joined the cardiovascular biology laboratory at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology under Professor Serena Zacchigna and started his PhD in Personalized Medicine and Innovative Therapies. His research focuses on cardiomyocyte–endothelial crosstalk to unlock cardiac regenerative and angiogenic potential.
