Biography
Zafar Ahmad is an electrical engineer focused on cardiac acoustics and AI. He joined Qatar University as a Research Assistant in May 2023 and began his Master of Electrical Engineering at NUST Islamabad in September 2023, after starting his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at UET Peshawar in September 2018. His work blends signal processing and machine learning for heart-sound (PCG) analysis, denoising, feature design, and lightweight classification for tele-auscultation. He works daily with MATLAB and Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn) and has experience with LabVIEW, USRP, and embedded interfaces. His studies and conference papers cover PCG classification using 1D-CNNs, MFCCs, and pitch-shifting. Zafar collaborates across engineering and clinical teams and mentors juniors. He speaks Pashto, Urdu, and English, reads Arabic, and aims to turn robust time-frequency analytics into practical tools for early cardiac screening.
