Professor Rajesh Varma

Professor Rajesh Varma is a UK Professor of General Practice and senior NHS GP Partner with specialist expertise in cardiovascular–renal–metabolic (CVRM) medicine. He holds a PhD in Reproductive Health and is a GP Trainer and undergraduate tutor at the University of Cambridge. A former Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, he now focuses on integrated primary care cardiometabolic risk reduction, lipid optimisation, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes management. He serves on a NICE National Guideline Committee and has led GMC-aligned accreditation and assessment programmes internationally. His academic interests include scalable CVRM service models, preventive cardiology, and the application of AI-enabled decision support to improve cardiovascular outcomes in primary care populations.
