Biography
Saara Wittfooth, PhD, is Associate Professor of Biotechnology, a research group leader and Vice Department Head at the Department of Life Technologies at the University of Turku in Turku, Finland. She has additional roles in international scientific committees, including the Working Group on Troponin Standardization and the Committee on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers at the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. She is an academic researcher with wide expertise in the development of laboratory methods. In the focus of her research interests are novel cardiac biomarkers (such as long forms of cardiac troponin T, cardiac troponin autoantibodies and macrotroponin), creation of innovative high-sensitivity immunoassays for the detection of these molecules and clinical validation of these biomarkers and assays.
