Professor George Booz

I am currently a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the School of Medicine and a member of the Graduate Faculty in the School of Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. My research is focused on intracellular signaling in heart cells related to cardiac remodeling due to inflammation, ischemia, and hypertension. I have a long-standing interest in the impact of angiotensin II, cytokines, and hypertension on cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, and the progression of adverse cardiac remodeling to heart failure. I have trained a number of students who are engaged in biomedical research and currently hold faculty appointments.
