
Professor Amalia Gastaldelli

Biography
Amalia Gastaldelli is Director of Research at the Institute of Clinical Physiology (CNR) in Pisa, Italy, where she leads the Metabolic Diseases Group and the Multi-Omics Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. She is also Adjunct Professor at UT Health San Antonio and Affiliate Professor at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa.
Her research focuses on the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases, particularly MASLD, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, with emphasis on metabolic fluxes and hormone action. She has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects in this field.
She is President and founder of the European MASLD Study Group (EASD) and President of EGIR-European Group for the study of Insulin Resistance affiliated to EASD. She has served on international committees for clinical guidelines on MASLD/NAFLD and diabetes (EASL–EASD–EASO; IDF).
