Biography
Catalina-Iolanda Marinescu is a physician in training in Laboratory Medicine and a PhD candidate in cardiovascular biology at the Institute of Cellular Biology and Pathology “Nicolae Simionescu”, Romanian Academy, Bucharest. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating cardiac fibroblast activation and fibrosis after myocardial infarction. Using cellular and molecular approaches including gene modulation, transcriptomic analysis and protein validation, she investigates pathways involved in pathological cardiac remodelling and potential therapeutic targets. Her work is part of multidisciplinary projects exploring regenerative and cell-based strategies for myocardial injury. She is particularly interested in translational cardiovascular research bridging mechanistic discoveries and clinical relevance.
