Doctor Dinis Dos Reis Miranda

Dinis is a critical care anesthesiologist working at the CardioThoracic ICU in the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is ECMO director of the Adult ICU. He divides his time at the ICU with his work as a physician at the Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), also based in Rotterdam. He is involved in ECMO since 2006 and introduced mobilization of vvECMO and vaECMO. In the ErasmusMC he trained cardiothoracic intensivists to perform ECPR, resulting in an in-house ECPR team 24/7. He also trained the HEMS teams (consisting of anesthesiologists and trauma surgeons) in the Netherlands to perform prehospital ECPR, covering now the entire nation. This is now known as the On-Scene trial. Outside of work, he does triathlons and loves to go sailing.
