Biography
Dr. Melissa Chacón is a medical doctor from Costa Rica, currently working as a general physician and actively engaged in cardiovascular and internal medicine research. Since 2024, she has contributed to systematic reviews and meta-analyses on intravenous iron therapy in heart failure, CRF1 receptor antagonists in congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and amino acid supplementation to prevent acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery. Her recent work includes analyses of SGLT2 inhibitors in transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis and ICD therapy versus amiodarone in Chagas cardiomyopathy. Her research has been presented at international congresses, including the World Congress of Nephrology. She is passionate about evidence-based medicine and has experience mentoring students in research methodology and critical appraisal. She speaks Spanish and English fluently and enjoys traveling and attending live music events abroad.
