Dr. Shreya Patel is a PGY-1 Internal Medicine resident at Lakeland Regional Health in Florida, USA. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and is pursuing a career in hematology-oncology. Dr. Patel has a growing interest in cardio-oncology, particularly in the optimization of thromboprophylaxis in cancer patients, and recently led a meta-analysis comparing dosing strategies of apixaban for the prevention of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism. Her academic interests include clinical research, evidence-based guideline development, and quality improvement in cancer care. In addition to her research in thromboembolism, she is involved in ongoing collaborative projects in malignant hematology. Outside of medicine, Shreya enjoys cooking, painting, and spending time outdoors. She is fluent in English, Gujarati, and conversational Hindi.
