Biography
José Valdivielso, PhD is a research scientist at the Spanish Ministry of Health, based at the Vascular and Renal Translational Research Group, IRBLLEIDA, Hospital Universitario Arnau de Vilanova, Spain, since 2004. He earned his Biology degree (1994), Master’s in Renal Physiology (1995), and PhD (1998) from the University of Salamanca. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at Emory University and UC San Diego. Dr. Valdivielso specializes in cardiovascular disease in CKD, with expertise in vitamin D receptor activation, vascular smooth muscle cells, lipid metabolism, and atherosclerosis. He leads research on transgenic pig models of CKD and diabetic mouse models. As Chair of the EURECAm Working Group, he fosters international collaboration in nephrology. He has published widely on CKD and cardiovascular risk, contributing to translational research aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing non-invasive vascular imaging techniques.
