Biography
Bimmer Claessen is an interventional cardiologist at the Amsterdam University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with a specific focus on performing complex and high-risk coronary interventions. He leads a research group investigating the diagnosis and management of coronary atherosclerosis and has published >250 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals on this subject. He is the principal investigator of the ongoing DELETE-LRP trial (NCT07107971) investigating the identification and treatment of vulnerable lipid-rich plaque and RECORD-DCB study (NCT07231835) investigating clinical outcomes in all-comers undergoing DCB PCI. Furthermore, his research group is heavily involved in the development and application of artifical intelligence to improve clinical outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease throughout several large-scale public-private partnership consortia.
