For his PhD he developed extensive 3D mapping systems in animal models under guidance of prof.dr. Prinzen and he received the Young Physiologist Award from the Dutch Society of Physiology three times. He obtained research grants from the Dutch Heart Foundation and Netherlands Heart Institute which allowed him to perform a post-doc fellowship at Bordeaux University. During this time he investigated a novel 3D electrical mapping system in dyssynchronous heart failure patients, performed multiple telemonitoring studies on pacemaker/ICD algorithms, co-wrote ECG books and set up e-learning sites.
