Doctor Lara Russo

Lara obtained a master’s degree in human nutrition sciences. She continued her academic career with a research fellowship and later a PhD scholarship in biochemistry and molecular biology. Since 2020, her research has focused on regenerative medicine, combining cellular systems with biomaterial scaffolds to promote the regeneration of complex tissues, including tendons, peripheral nerves, and bile ducts. During her doctoral studies, she spent six months at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, working on the development of bioengineered bile ducts. Since February 2024, she has held a research fellowship at the Italian National Research Council, where her work explores the molecular mechanisms underlying transthyretin-related cardiac amyloidosis and investigates new therapeutic strategies. She is fluent in Italian and English and is learning Japanese. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, traveling, camping, and following anime and manga.
