Biography
Michael Joannidis, MD, is Professor in Medicine (Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine) and Head of the Division of Medical Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, Dept. Internal Medicine, Medical University Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria. He was founding member and first Chair of the AKI section of ESICM. Currently he is serving as vice (past)-president of the Austrian Society of General and Medical Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (ÖGIAIN). He is a certified specialist in Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology and Cardiology. His research interests covering acute kidney injury, renal tubular epithelial pathophysiology, renal replacement therapy and sepsis are represented by over 400 peer reviewed articles.
