Biography
Ron T. Gansevoort is nephrologist at the UMC Groningen, the Netherlands, where holds positions as professor of Medicine and Director of the Groningen Kolff Center for Kidney Research. His work has been instrumental in the development of the definition and classification of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), the development of novel endpoints for clinical trials in Nephrology and the first registered treatment for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). He is committed to getting more attention for screening for early CKD and prevention of progressive kidney function loss on a general population level. For his work he was awarded the United States Distinguished International Medal by the American Kidney Foundation and the Kaplan Award by the International Society of Nephrology. Professor Gansevoort has co-authored over 800 peer reviewed manuscripts (h-index 107), supervised over 40 PhD theses and is member of the steering committee of several large scale nephrology consortia and clinical trials.
