Biography
Dr Jennifer Lees, MA (Cantab) MBChB MRCP(Neph) PhD FERA, is a Wellcome Trust Early Career Fellow and Deputy Director of Research (School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health, University of Glasgow) and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde). She graduated from the Universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh then moved to Glasgow to train in Renal and General Internal Medicine in 2013. Her PhD at the University of Glasgow (2016-2019) explored the role of vitamin K in vascular health and disease in CKD and kidney transplant populations. Post-doctoral research (Chief Scientist Office 2020-2022, Wellcome Trust 2024-2029) is at the intersection of nephrology, cardiology and oncology: exploring these overlapping relationships, their influence on the delivery, efficacy and safety of cancer treatments and clinical outcomes. Dr Lees has a special interest in understanding biological sex differences in health, disease and response to therapeutics.
