Biography
Alex Chang has long been interested in understanding the molecular underpinnings between aging and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Chang received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of British Colombia (Canada) under the mentorship of Dr. Aly Karsan. After receiving his PhD, he joined Dr. Helen Blau group at Stanford University working on genetic cardiomyopathy. In 2018, Dr. Chang setup his own group at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine - Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital with a focus on telomere-mitochondrial homeostasis. In 2021, he launched Juvensis Therapeutics to develop an original gene therapy for treating heart failure. Juvensis has completed an Investigator Initiated Trial (NCT05837143) on dilated cardiomyopathy at Shanghai East Hospital.
