Johannes F. E. Mann, M.D., is (since 1989) Professor of Medicine at the University of Erlangen and physician, KfH Kidney Center, Munich, both in Germany, and Senior International Scholar at Population Health Research Institute, McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada.His previous assignments include Director of Dept. of Nephrology, Munich General Hospitals, assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Heidelberg, Germany, and research fellow in Pharmacology at the Universities of Montreal, Canada and of Heidelberg, Germany.He is specialist in Internal Medicine, in Nephrology, in Intensive Care and in Pharmacology.His scientific work includes about 340 original paper, H-Index 107 in 2026.His work concerned initially the physiology of the renin-angiotensin system, later its role for diseases of the kidney, the heart, and for diabetes. Later, his interest moved to prevention of kidney & CV diseases in CKD and in diabetes with a focus on simple, large outcome RCTs.
