Professor Christoph Bode

Professor Dr. Dr.h.c. Christoph Bode studied Medicine at the University of Cologne, Germany. He obtained his doctorate degree in Biochemistry under the supervision of Professor Stoffel. He went on to a joint appointment at Havard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital where he worked with Dr. Edgar Haber and Dr. Eugene Braunwald. He continued to a professorship at the University of Heidelberg (under Professor Kübler) before being called as Chairman of Medicine to the University of Freiburg (1999-2022). He has held numerous prestigious positions (President of GTH, European Editor of Circulation, Chairman of the Assembly of International Governors of ACC, Founding President of German Chairmen of Cardiology Assembly), has published over 1000 papers, several patents, received numerous scientific and other honors (the German Federal Cross of Merit, a high civilian honor), and an honorary doctorate. Several of his former coworkers are holding top academic positions presently.
