James Pirruccello, MD, is a general cardiologist and physician scientist at UCSF. His lab studies the genetic basis for cardiovascular diseases, with a particular focus on using machine learning to develop quantitative cardiovascular traits for genetic discovery and disease prediction. Dr. Pirruccello graduated from Yale and received his MD from Johns Hopkins. During medical school, he completed a Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship at the Broad Institute. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital before joining the cardiology faculty at the University of California San Francisco in 2022.
