Dr. Emmy Okello MBChB, MMED, PhD FACC is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at the Uganda Heart Institute and Honorary Professor of Medicine at Makerere University. Dr. Okello completed his MBChB at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Residency in Internal Medicine at Wuhan University and PhD in Medicine at Makerere University where he was a Fogarty International Fellow. Dr. Okello trained in Interventional Cardiology at University Hospitals of Cleveland/ Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Okello co-directs the rheumatic heart disease collaborative (RRCU) in Uganda and leads the percutaneous mitral transcutaneous commissurotomy (PMTC) programme at the Uganda Heart Institute. Dr. Okello speaks English, Mandarin and Swahili.
