Biography
I am a platelet biologist engaged in experimental and clinical research. I did my PhD in Life Sciences as a Senior research fellow of the Indian Council of Medical Research from Central Drug Research Institute, India, 2008; and my Postdoctoral Diploma from Dept. of Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, 2011. I accomplished Habilitation in Experimental Medicine from University of Tuebingen, Germany, 2024. A significant aspect of my research concerns platelet GPCRs, chemokines, and lipids as molecular and metabolic mediators in driving platelet response and communication with other cells (e.g. neutrophils, monocytes). The (immuno)thrombotic and thrombo-inflammatory disease settings that I have explored thus far include- Heparin induced thrombocytopenia-(HIT), arterial and venous thrombosis, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, also clinical research in CAD. Research awards: Alexander-Schmidt Prize 2024; Uta und Jürgen Breunig-Forschungspreis 2017.
