Biography
Dr. Giorgio Quer is an Assistant Professor of Digital Medicine and Director of Artificial Intelligence at the Scripps Research Translational Institute, leading a multidisciplinary AI team working at the intersection of machine learning, wearable sensors, and clinical data. His cardiovascular work includes deep learning algorithms for atrial fibrillation prediction from single-lead ECG, and a method to reconstruct 12-lead ECGs from limited leads, validated with board-certified cardiologists for myocardial infarction detection. His current focus is the development of cardiovascular foundation models for diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of cardiovascular events. Additional work spans cardiometabolic health, where he developed multimodal models integrating wearables and genomics to predict T2D risk; early COVID-19 detection via wearables (DETECT study); and maternal health (Powermom platform), studying wearable-derived signals and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
