Anwar A. Chahal, MD, PhD, MRCP, is a clinician scientist who leads clinical and translational research of sudden death syndromes and genetic cardiac disease, combining imaging with EP for ‘deep phenotyping’ and precision medicine 'omics' approaches with AI. Having completed clinical training both in the UK (Barts Heart Centre, University College London) and the US (University of Pennsylvania), he established and is Director the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases. His PhD was on SUDEP with Supervisors, Virend K. Somers, Michael J. Ackerman and Elson So at the Mayo Clinic. He maintains adjunct research positions with Mayo Clinic, Cambridge and Barts Heart Centre, London. As a medical educator, he teaches medical students and residents general medicine, evidence-based medicine and cardiology, and is leading content development for the AHA Certificate in CV Genomics. As a father of four girls and a proponent of the 'trivium', he is re-learning grammar, dialectic and rhetoric!
