Biography
Dr Cote is a cardiovascular and exercise physiologist. She obtained her PhD from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver (School of Kinesiology) where she studied cardiovascular responses to strenuous endurance exercise. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Faculty of Medicine (UBC, Pediatrics) to support her interest in the development of the athlete’s heart. Currently, Dr Cote is a Canada Research Chair in Cardiovascular Adaptation to Exercise, Associate Professor, Trinity Western University and Affiliate Professor, UBC Medicine. Dr. Cote’s research program focuses on the physiological mechanisms underlying exercise-induced cardiovascular adaptation and the role of biological sex in this response. Through echocardiography at rest and during exercise, Dr. Cote examines the ventricular vascular relationships in healthy athletes, as well as preventive studies investigating the role of exercise in reducing cardiovascular disease risk in women.
