Doctor Marie-Louise Bang

Marie-Louise Bang was born in Denmark and earned her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Biotechnology from the Technical University of Denmark in 1997. She did her PhD studies at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg Germany and subsequently her postdoctoral studies at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). In 2007 she moved to Milan where she was awarded Assistant Telethon Scientist in 2008, and started up her independent research group at the Institute of Biomedical Technologies of the National Research Council (ITB-CNR) in collaboration with IRCCS Multimedica Hospital. In 2010 she obtained a permanent position at CNR and in 2012 her laboratory moved to Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, where she has been since. The primary research area of her lab is to study the role of sarcomeric and cytoskeletal proteins in cardiac and skeletal muscle structure, function, and disease.
