Mr Dennis Van Helvert

Dennis van Helvert, MSc, is a coordinating nurse at the Department of Cardiology at Maastricht UMC+ and a board member of the Nursing Staff Council, where he holds the innovation portfolio. Since the start of his clinical career, he has focused on strengthening the role of nurses in research, innovation and quality improvement in hospital care. He obtained a Master’s degree in Health Innovation from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. His research explored innovative work behaviour (IWB) among nurses and how nurses contribute to innovation in everyday clinical practice. His interests centre on supporting nurses to shape improvements in care and helping organisations create the right conditions for practice-based innovation. His current work includes a research project on the use of social robotics to support patient education in acute cardiology care. The project focuses on improving the delivery of repeatable information, helping patients understand and retain information.
