Anke Tijsen obtained her PhD on the subject ‘microRNAs in cardiac diseases’ in the group of Yigal Pinto in Amsterdam. After her PhD she performed a post-doc in the lab of Lior Gepstein (Haifa, Israel), where she learned to work with hiPSCs. She returned to the lab of Experimental Cardiology in Amsterdam, first as a post-doc and later as assistant professor/staff member, to start her research line into genetic cardiomyopathies. Her current research combines molecular mechanistic studies into non-coding RNAs, like circular RNAs, and their role in cardiomyopathies with efforts to develop molecular-based therapeutics for these cardiomyopathies all based on hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes as model.
