Biography
Hiba is a nurse since 2006. She is currently holding an academic role as an assistant professor of nursing at Beirut Arab University in Lebanon. In addition to teaching, Hiba has been active in conducting research on the HF population in a ‘developing’ country with limited resources and rapid sociopolitical changes that impact the heart care system in general and HF care specifically. Gaps in management and low literacy and self-care levels were identified in her national Lebanese Heart Failure Snapshot and her RCT which was conducted to evaluate the effect of involving the family in self-care of patients with HF. Her current focus in on HF self-care, literacy, medication adherence, readmission and mortality rates. Hiba is currently an active member in a number of national, regional and international professional societies/ committee that aim to develop the nursing profession and HF care.
