Mr Shaun Loong

National University of Singapore, Singapore (Singapore)

Shaun is a current year 5 medical student at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is currently a UROP student at the cardiovascular research institute (FOOLAB) under the mentorship of Prof Roger Foo. His key research interests in the analysis of rare inherited cardiovascular conditions and complex trait diseases through the utilization of high throughput next-generation genetic sequencing. As part of his work in rare inherited cardiovascular diseases, he has familiarised himself with American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) guidelines for the curation of genetic variants. In addition to that, he has applied this towards analyzing various cohorts of inherited cardiac conditions and rare endocrine conditions, elucidating the causal pathogenic variants in these cases. In addition to regularly curating rare disease variants, Shaun is involved in the analysis of complex, polygenetic conditions through GWAS.
