Dr Karam Kostner is one of the most experienced lipidologists in Australia. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland and Director of Cardiology at Mater Public and Private Hospitals in Brisbane. He is a senior cardiologist with Advara and with Heart of Australia, which delivers specialist healthcare services and testing to rural, remote, and indigenous communities across Queensland. His current clinical interests are preventive cardiology and lipid disorders. His passion combines helping people with high cholesterol and investigating new therapies. Dr Kostner is also Co-author of Cholesterol Explained: Understanding the Science, Significance, Tests, Management Options, and Controversies, a book offering clear, compassionate, and science-based guidance to help readers understand cholesterol, interpret test results, and navigate treatment options - from medications to lifestyle changes - in a simple yet accurate way.
