Born with an Ebstein's Anomaly I had three tricuspid valve surgeries. I had several electrophysiologic ablations and since 2003 I have a pacemaker. After his studies master in public management and master after master maritime science in 2003, Benoit started as an officer in parliament. Fascinated by healthcare he then continued as a project manager with a medical device firm to advocate for point of care tests in benefit for the patient. Consecutively he returned as a policy advisor to the federal parliament where he mainly worked on medical devices legislation and rare diseases policies. In 2010 he joined the Belgian Cancer Center of Sciensano as a policy officer where he focused on the management of stem cell banks. In 2015 he was appointed as a policy advisor in the cabinet of the minister of Social Affairs and Public health. Currently he works for a non-for-profit healthcare insurance fund.
