Biography
Maria Estefânia Bosco Otto, MD PhD, is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Brasília (from 2025). She earned her medical degree at the University of São Paulo in 1992, her PhD in 2000, and completed a post‑doctoral echocardiography fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, from 2002 to 2003. Starting 2009 she led the Echocardiography Service and the Echocardiography Residency Programme at the "Instituto de Cardiologia e Transplantes do Distrito Federal" for fifteen years. Since 2022 she has been Scientific Consultant in Echocardiography at Hospital DF Star, Rede D’Or. Her research covers three‑dimensional and speckle‑tracking echocardiography, strain imaging, valvular disease and heart transplant. Author of numerous peer‑reviewed papers, she reviews for some journals. Outside her professional duties, she is an avid reader, fluent in English and conversational in French and Spanish
