Biography
Early carrer as GP. From 1982 to 2018 she worked at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in Rome, IT, at first as researcher, then as research director holding the position of Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Endocrine-metabolic and Ageing diseases. She conducted longitudinal studies investigating classical and new cardiovascular risk factors and their role in ageing-related diseases. She coordinated the study of 10-year risk prediction in the Italian adult population with application in clinical practice of the CUORE risk charts and scores and GPs training programmes; was co-responsible of the Osservatorio Epidemiologico Cardiovascolare/Health Examination Survey, population-based registries for monitoring coronary and cerebrovascular events. She was the coordinator of the CUORE Project, www.cuore.iss.it, and of the population-based biological bank of epidemiological studies until retirement in 2018. She was co-author of international and national publications.
