Raj trained at UCL and in the Oxford Deanery. His varied roles include GP partner since 2004, primary care cardiology lead for the Oxford Health Innovation Network and national primary care workstream co-lead for the cardiac transformation programme (NHSE). He is also on the national expert advisory groups for lipids, heart attack and heart failure. Raj is the President of the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society, Honorary Visiting Professor at Cardiff University Medical School, Head of Medical External Engagement/Innovation for AstraZeneca & UK med director, Healthy.io. Previous roles included Clinical Commissioning Director for Bucks CCG/BOB ICB, Cardiac Lead for the TV Strategic Clinical Network, and atrial fibrillation champion for NHSIQ Thames Valley. Raj has worked as a presenter on BBC Radio and is a medical writer, speaker, and advisor. He has written and published over 200 articles and several books including the MIMS consultation guide (BMA book of the year, Medicine, 2012)
