Doctor Stavros Drakos

Dr. Drakos is a Professor of Cardiology at the Univ. of Utah Healthcare & Medical School, Medical Director Cardiac Mechanical Support Program, Co-Chief Heart Failure & Transplant and Director of Cardiovascular Research for the Division of Cardiology. Dr. Drakos is licensed to practice medicine both in the US and the EU. He currently receives patient referrals and consultations from a twelve-state region in the West United States and beyond. He has published original scientific work generated both in the clinical arena and in his lab which led to the establishment of the award-winning Utah Cardiac Recovery Program (UCAR). Dr. Drakos is also co-chairing the NIH/NHLBI Working Group on Cardiac Recovery and the Annual International Utah Cardiac Recovery Symposium (UCARS). He is a regular visiting professor in several medical centers/medical schools worldwide. He and his mentees have received over the years extensive extramural research funding and competitive scientific medical awards.
