Biography
Christina Christersson MD, PhD, FESC works as a senior consultant at the Department of Cardiology Uppsala University Hospital and as a professor at the Department of Medical Sciences at Uppsala University. She focus her clinical research on patients with valvular diseases, atrial fibrillation and atherosclerotic diseases and how proteins and imaging can be used to identify individuals with high risk for progression of the disease. The aim to identify biomarkers that in the long-term can be translated into clinical practice. In addition she devotes her time on translational studies focusing on biological functions of extracellular vesicles and the interplay of coagulation and inflammation in patients with valvular disease and heart failure. She has authored/ co-authored > 80 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
