The EACVI HIT School is dedicated to cardiologists, either in training or at consultant level, with special interest for imaging and clinical management of patients with valvular heart disease. The aim of this School is to provide a comprehensive clinical approach - including both multimodality imaging and clinical skills in decision-making for patients with valvular heart disease. With a limited number of attendees, the majority of educational content will be provided by working in small groups of participants.

This new concept of education is based on clinically challenging cases and a practical problem solving approach including innovative lectures, case-based sessions with active involvement of the audience, round table case-based discussions, workshops on work-stations for echocardiography (TTE, TOE), cardiac CT and CMR, hands-on workshops with patients on-site, simulator.

Esteemed EACVI faculty will be invited to accomplish high quality of the presentations and all presented cases.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be better able to:

  • understand the clinical value of different imaging modalities in patient with VHD
  • select the optimal imaging technique(s) for patients with complex VHD
  •  understand and interprete results of the imaging techniques and clinical meaning of their results.
  • learn tips & tricks on how to optimise echocardiographic studies and image aquisition in patients with valvular heart disease
  •  learn how to analyse CMR and CT exams in patients with VHD and perform basic postprocessing and measurements on the work-stations
