Learning objectives 

After watching this webinar, participants will understand: 

• the evidence on radiation and deterministic/stocastic effects in the embryo, addressing misinformation about risks of radiation exposure;
• the regulations allowing women to work with radiation exposure while pregnant, including the discrepancy amongst countries both within and outside the EU regarding current legal requirements pertaining to pregnancy; 
• how to improve radiation safety management for all staff members including pregnant women; and
• how to propose safe practices which do not discriminate against pregnant women.

Needs assessment and expected educational outcome

To spread more knowledge on radiation risk, safe practices, and available data on the existing experiences of exposed cardiologists who continue to work in catheterisation land electrophysiology laboratories throughout their pregnancies; and to reduce barriers preventing women from accessing an interventional career and to improve the practice safety for all professionals exposed to radiation.
