Dear colleagues,
We are excited to welcome you to the first “in person” meeting of the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Genomics that will be held in Belgium on December 6th and 7th 2024, providing a great opportunity to share knowledge and science in the field of cardiovascular genomic medicine.
Addressing the need and added value of integrating genetic data in daily practice for every cardiologist, this meeting will host a broad panel of worldwide experts in the field of cardiovascular genomics. This meeting is organized by the European Society of Cardiology, and endorsed by the European Society of Human Genetics. A large panel of topics will be discussed ranging from arrhythmic disorders, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, ischaemic heart disease, and vascular disorders. In this meeting, the role of polygenic risk scores in modulating cardiovascular risk and predicting disease expressivity will also be discussed, and a dedicated session will highlight therapeutic innovation in the field of cardiovascular medicine, leading us into the world of personalized care. Also, the scientific program will include two state of the art lectures, rapid fire sessions, a young investigator session, sponsored sessions, and debates which together will provide opportunity for intense interaction between the audience and experts. This Meeting will be an integrated scaffold of learning, sharing knowledge and breakthrough science.
This two-day-meeting will be held in the historical centre of Antwerp city, in an old monastery that provides an inspiring environment in which to promote scientific exchange. The central location of Belgium in Europe, and the proximity of Antwerp city to the Brussels international airport ensures accessibility and a truly international event. As part of your experience, we encourage you to visit some of the city’s sights including its famous Zoo and Central Station, as well as discovering the wonders of Belgian food and drink.
Are you already an expert in the field of cardiogenomics willing to share your experience or knowledge? Or are you a trainee, an established cardiologist, a research fellow, a genetic councillor, or a geneticist anxious to improve your knowledge on cardiogenetics? If so, this meeting is right for you. The Nucleus and the board of the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Genomics worked tremendously hard to create an exceptional scientific program that we hope will meet your expectations. We are confident that this meeting will provide you with new insights, broaden your knowledge, and expand your professional network to feel more comfortable with genetics in your practice.
We are looking forward to seeing you on December 6th and 7th 2024 in Antwerp.
On behalf of the Council on Cardiovascular Genomics,
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Heribert Schunkert
