This EACVI HIT Summer School will be focusing on the Lifetime Management of Patients with Heart Valves Diseases and Cardiac Devices.

It is dedicated to cardiologists, either in training or at consultant level, with a special interest for imaging and clinical management of patients with heart valves diseases and cardiac devices.

With a limited number of attendees, the majority of educational content will be provided by working in small groups of participants.

The participants will be provided with advanced training – from the clinical approach, on-site scanning and learning protocols for specific clinical scenarios, image postprocessing and at the end clinical decision making based on provided imaging results. A series of difficult cases, prior, during and after interventions will be presented.

Upon completion of this course, participants will gain more knowledge and be able to:

  • understand the importance and clinical value of each imaging modality prior to specific percutaneous or surgical heart interventions in order to prevent complications
  • select the optimal imaging technique(s) prior, during and after intervention (surgical or percutaneous)
  • understand and interpret the results of the imaging techniques and clinical meaning of their results
  • learn tips & tricks on how to optimize echocardiographic studies and image acquisition in patients prior, during and after interventions
  • learn how to analyse CMR and CT exams and perform basic postprocessing and measurements on the workstations in planning and follow-up after interventions
