Learning objectives
After participating in this course, participants will be able:
Attendees will be confident to use euCanSHare platform to enable important cardiovascular research which will contribute to ESC’s mission to reduce the global burden of cardiovascular disease.
Needs Assessment and Expected Educational Outcome
The translation of research findings into clinical practice is often impeded by fragmented efforts and lack of information on available data resources. The EU-funded euCanSHare project developed the first centralised and secure platform for research cohort identification for cardiovascular research. The platform integrates major cardiovascular data sources totaling one million records from Europe and Canada. Extensive functionalities will improve access to information and ensure correct data deposition, quality control and harmonisation. The platform will support biomarker validation, knowledge discovery, cardiovascular risk assessment as well as public health research. Ultimately, the euCanSHare platform will accelerate data-driven research efforts for personalised medicine in cardiology.
The euCanSHare platform requires familiarity both conceptionally and through hands-on experience based on use cases. This course will address a) the need for facilitated access to relevant research data to interested cardiologists and cardiovascular researchers and b) ensure practical experience and familiarity with the euCanSHare platform and tools.
