Professor Catherine Boileau

Pr. Catherine Boileau (PharmD., PhD) is Emeritus Professor of Genetics at the Medical School of Paris Cité University in France. She Chaired the large Genetics Department at Bichat hospital in Paris and taught Genetics for over 35 years. She has performed research for over 40 years and headed research teams at Inserm. Her research was the first to relate TGFBR2 and thoracic aneurysms. She also discovered the role of PCSK9 (which she named) in cholesterol metabolism. She is a past President of the Scientific Advisory Board of the French Foundation of Rare Diseases. She was on the Governing Board of the Paris University Hospitals (APHP) and the Research Director of the Northern University Hospitals. Author of over 300 international publications, she is chevalier of the French Légion d’Honneur, was awarded the Grand Prix Lefoulon-Delalande (France), the International Health Prize from Fund Baillet Latour (Belgium) and the Lifetime Achievement Award from Stanford Medicine.
