Biography
Dr. Moritz Blum is clinician scientist at the German Heart Center at Charité in Berlin. He studies the provision of palliative care for people with heart disease leveraging registry data, prospective cohort studies and qualitative methods. In his clinical work, he is a fellow-in-training in cardiology with a focus on advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support systems and cardiac transplantation. Moritz received his medical education at Charité Medical University in Berlin. After completing his dissertation in cardiac imaging, he visited the Center for Interventional Cardiovascular Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, USA as a research scholar. After refocusing on cardiovascular palliative care, he joined the group of Nate Goldstein and Laura Gelfman at the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as a post-doctoral research fellow, before returning to Charité.
